Development Coordinator

FTE: 0.8 FTE (working 29.6 hours per week)

Salary: UH6 £28,756 – £31,406 pa, pro rata, with potential to progress to £34,304 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Location: De Havilland Campus, Hatfield with some remote working within the UK in line with our flexible location principles

Main duties and responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and increasing philanthropic revenue from individuals in support of the University’s key strategic objectives. You will carry out prospect research which will be a significant part of the role with identified prospects being contacted in most cases by the Head of Development.

You will also have responsibility for managing our portfolio of philanthropic scholarships and prizes and will be in regular contact with academic Schools and central administration.

Alongside this, you will steward current donors, liaising with the University Events team regarding thank you events and invitations to corporate University events. You will also take responsibility for reporting to individual donors through annual and ad-hoc reporting.

You will have the ability to build strong professional relationships with key University academic and professional staff, and external contacts – both individuals and corporations – to ensure successful fundraising is undertaken. You will be the main user within the team of Raiser’s Edge, our CRM system, and pass donations and direct debits of which training can be provided. Alumni and donor records will be regularly updated, and you will work the alumni relations and CRM teams to ensure data is captured accurately and adhering to all guidelines and regulations.

Skill and experience required

The role will require you to have experience of fundraising or marketing for a charity or in the higher education sector, experience with fundraising databases particularly Raiser’s Edge/ Blackbaud is desirable. In addition to this you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to priorities tasks independently. You will have the ability to pay attention to detail and manage a busy and varied portfolio, managing expectations where necessary. You will also be required to have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a degree or equivalent or have proven equivalent work experience
