
The College wishes to recruit a Medical Statistician:
Graduate Research Assistant (Medical Statistics) / Postdoctoral Research Associate (Medical Statistics) / Research Fellow (Medical Statistics) / Senior Research Fellow (Medical Statistics).
The post is available immediately until 30th September 2024, with extension likely but conditional on funding.
Part-time and job share options available.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home, and can also be considered for remote working and can be based anywhere in the UK.
Salary information
Depending on qualifications and experience, the starting salary will be from: £ 27,924 up to £ 31,406 on Grade E for a Graduate Research Assistant; £ 30,497 up to £ 31,406 on Grade E for a Postdoctoral Research Associate; £ 36,382 up to £ 40,927 on Grade F for a Research Fellow; £ 44,706 up to £ 51,799 on Grade G for a Snr Research Fellow.
Summary of the position
The postholder will contribute to the design, conduct and analysis of studies identified as research priorities by local clinicians through the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula, PenARC (https://arc-swp.nihr.ac.uk/). The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes; communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically; prepare proposals and applications to external bodies; and contribute to the writing of research papers. The postholder will also contribute to teaching introductory statistics including to undergraduate medical students on the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) course.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. They will be able to undertake statistical analyses and have statistical computing skills (using Stata, R or another major statistical package).
This role may be subject to additional background screening.
