The Post

We are seeking a suitably qualified applicant for the post of Lecturer in the Initial Teacher Education Programme. Our pioneering approach of studying education with a subject specialism means that our students can teach across the whole curriculum and primary age range, while also developing a specialism in a particular area. The successful candidate will be passionate about learning and teaching and will teach across the entire initial teacher education programme at Stirling, including the early years specialism modules.

The post holder will have significant expertise and experience in early years teaching and will be registered as a teacher by the General Teaching Council for Scotland, or eligible for full registration. They will contribute to the ITE programme both in the specialist area and more widely. Applicants should demonstrate a developing record of scholarly activity and relevant teaching experience including responsibility for designing provision. They should demonstrate understanding of and commitment to a blended approach to teaching and to pedagogical innovation.

Description of Duties

  • Design, deliver, assess and evaluate a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate, postgraduate including online/digital programmes, where required
  • Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports student learning and is underpinned by evidence based scholarly activity
  • Enhance the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning
  • Develop and apply new, effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques and material, which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant discipline or close to successful completion or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience or knowledge to design, deliver, assess and evaluate modules in the subject area
  • Demonstrate an understanding of or provide evidence of developing effective approaches to teaching and learning, student support and guidance
  • Experience or knowledge of approaches to enhance the student experience
