
The Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) has a national remit to research the best ways to provide health care, and to train those working in the health services in research methods. Most research projects aim to find out whether developments within the health service really are effective, efficient and appropriate. There are approximately 70 members of staff, working together cohesively, with everyone’s contribution valued. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and efficient.
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) within the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU), University of Aberdeen. The position reflects HSRU’s commitment to further enhance their development implementation and evaluation of involving and engaging with patients and the public. This role will directly contribute to HSRU delivering more patient relevant health services research and ultimately improve health care delivery and health policy. It is an excellent opportunity for career development in a research unit with an established international reputation in health services research.
The successful applicant will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team based primarily in the Health Services Research Unit (www.abdn.ac.uk/hsru) working across HSRU programmes and roles. A key aim of this post is to support and facilitate PPI Partners’ involvement in research, developing and maintaining close links with patients, carers, and the public (and other relevant ‘Partners’) and supporting a programme of inclusive design which includes promotion of our work through structured public engagement activities and events. You will be responsible to Dr Katie Gillies in respect of the general direction of the post, and specific assessments or other research/academic activities.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 6/7, £34,304 – £50,296 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience.
